# NexEvents

> Use a tablet as your event checkpoint to check customers in and out of events quickly, in self-service or hosted mode.

## Overview

**NexEvents** turns a tablet into an event checkpoint. At the door of an event, staff or attendees check in and out against the day's registrations — no paper lists, no manual counting.

## Two modes

When the tablet opens, you choose how to use it:

### Self-service mode

Designed for attendees to check themselves in:

1. The home screen lists **today's events** for the location.
2. The attendee taps their event.
3. They check in by **scanning their ticket QR code** or entering their **PIN code**.
4. A confirmation screen shows their check-in status.

This mode is ideal for larger events where you don't want a queue at the door.

### Hosted mode

Designed for staff to manage check-in on behalf of attendees:

1. The home screen lists **today's events** for the location.
2. Staff select the event they're hosting to see the **full attendee list**.
3. Attendees are checked in by scanning their ticket QR code, or by finding them in the searchable list and tapping their name.
4. A live counter shows how many attendees have checked in against the event's capacity. Useful for smaller events, VIP arrivals, or when attendees need assistance.

## Checking in attendees

Attendees are checked in by:

* **Ticket QR code scan** — self-service mode, using the tablet's camera.
* **PIN code** — entered on the tablet keypad (self-service mode).
* **Name search** — staff type a name to find the attendee, then check them in manually (hosted mode).

Once verified, the check-in is recorded and reflected in:

* Event attendance reports in the Admin Panel.
* Capacity figures for the event.
* The attendee's own record in the Members Portal.

## Event details

In hosted mode, selecting an event shows:

* Event name, time, and venue.
* Checked-in count against the event's capacity.
* A **scan ticket** option to check people in by QR code.
* The full attendee list (searchable by name) with individual check-in/out actions.

  </Step>
</Steps>

## Settings

Adjust from the NexEvents settings page in the Admin Panel:

* **Branding** — colours, banner image, and location name.
* **Check-in behaviour** — which identification methods are available (QR code, PIN).

Events themselves are managed in the [Admin Panel](/platform/content/events) — the tablet automatically shows whatever is scheduled for that day at its location.
