# App user roles

> Control what the Nexudus apps can do by assigning a dedicated user role to the admin who operates them.

## Overview

Every Nexudus app is set up and managed by an **admin**. Most apps can only be managed by a **full unrestricted admin**, but some let you use a **restricted admin** with a dedicated role if your space needs tighter permissions.

<Info>
  **Why use a full unrestricted admin?** Any full unrestricted admin can set up and manage the companion apps, so you're never blocked if someone leaves or changes role. Reserve restricted roles for cases where your policies require them.
</Info>

## Dedicated app roles

Some apps have a purpose-built role template you can base a custom role on:

* **NexBoard** — a role template covering the permissions NexBoard needs (bookings, resources, floor plan, dashboards, and read access to customers and settings).
* **NexDelivery** — a role for staff who process deliveries.

To use one:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create a role from the template">
    In **Settings → Users and roles**, create a new role based on the app's template.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Assign it to an admin">
    Assign the role to the restricted admin who will operate the app.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Which apps need which access

| App | Minimum access |
| - | - |
| NexBoard | Full unrestricted admin, or a restricted admin with the NexBoard role |
| NexDelivery | Full unrestricted admin, or a restricted admin with the NexDelivery role |
| NexEvents, NexIO, NexKiosk | Full unrestricted admin |
